Chekhov Through Active Analysis
Locations: NYC
Through the étude-based Russian methodology, Analysis through Action, students will explore scenes from Chekhov’s four primary plays. Chekhov’s texts are rich with subtext and provide the perfect opportunity for students to learn to trust their unique physical and emotional impulses in service of their characters’ objectives. This workshop is especially great for actors who are trying to break free from “overthinking,” as Analysis through Action is all about learning to let the brain follow the body.
“Evelyn (Evvy) Giovine is not only a wonderful actor in her own right, she is a brilliant teacher as well – and a delightful person to boot. I have watched Evvy rise from Princeton to Yale to the profession with distinction at each level. Along the way, Evvy studied Analysis through Action with me, and has developed a mastery of this innovative process that is deeply felt, eloquently expressed, and joyful to participate in.”
