Ryan has been with the Stella Adler Studio since 2008 where in addition to serving as Director of Marketing, he teaches Acting Technique, Character and Improvisation. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Performance from Middle Tennessee State University, where he studied Stella Adler’s work, and a Minor in Leadership Studies. At the Stella Adler Studio he has been mentored in the technique by Ron Burrus, Tom Oppenheim, Antonio Merenda and Betsy Parrish. He studied improvisation and sketch comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade and Magnet Theater.
MARKETING: Before coming to the studio, Ryan served as Marketing and Development Associate at the Berkshire Theatre Festival. He also held administrative positions at the Tennessee Repertory Theatre and Tennessee Performing Arts Center. Ryan was also co-founder of Glamsmash Productions, a New York based video production company where he served as Head of Marketing and Client Relations.
ACTOR: As an actor, Ryan has performed all over the world including such countries as Finland, Russia, Latvia, and Honduras. Recent production include: Collaborating with Taylor Mac on world premieres of The Hang (HERE Arts Center) and The Fre (Flea Theater), Arsenic and Old Lace, Finian’s Rainbow (Berkshire Theatre Festival), The Fez (Flea Theater), Dry Powder (Arthur Seelen Theatre), Professor Brenner (HERE Arts Center), The Cherry Orchard, As You Like It (Harold Clurman Lab) and various productions at the Stella Adler Studio. For three years, he had the great pleasure of working at the world famous Grand Ole Opry as an official Hank Williams impersonator.
COMEDY: Ryan frequently performs improv comedy in the city on house teams at Upright Citizens Brigade, The Armory Comedy, Rubbish Comedy Collective, and in the hit monthly Ten Bones Theatre show “Entirely From Memory” at littlefield. He can currently be seen at Lloyd Night on Tuesday nights with UCB team “Congress.” He has also performed with the Magnet Theater, People’s Improv Theater and other indie groups.
Ryan is a proud company member of the Story Pirates and Actors’ Equity Association.
