Dale Brown

  • Audition Techniques

Dale Brown is an independent casting director and educator.  His 20+ years of casting spans all mediums and now focuses exclusively on theater. Recent New York work includes Life Jacket Theatre’s acclaimed production of America Is Hard to See at HERE (listed #1 at the 2019 Edinburgh Festival) and the Drama Desk nominated musical Daddy Long Legs by composer Paul Gordon and playwright John Caird. Regional credits include West Side Story, The Chinese Lady, & Things I Know To Be True (Milwaukee Rep.),  Sense & Sensibility (Chicago Shakespeare Theater), Disgraced (Syracuse Stage}; In The Heights (Seattle Rep) and 2 Pianos 4 Hands (Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park), Lives of Reason (Two River Theater).  In collaboration with Duncan Stewart & Co. Dale cast Nerds for the Philadelphia Theatre Company, the NYC lab production of Maltby & Shire’s new musical Waterfall, and a tour of Kathleen Marshall’s Tony winning production of Anything Goes.  Dale spent over 5 years with Tara Rubin Casting, maintaining the North American companies of The Phantom of the Opera and Billy Elliot and worked on the Broadway productions of A Little Night Music, Jesus Christ Superstar, Guys & Dolls and Old Jews Telling Jokes off-Broadway. In addition to his work with Stella Adler Studios, Dale has taught for many university programs teaching audition technique.  His casting career follows 15 years as a professional actor, bringing unique insight to the paths and challenges facing actors as they pursue their professional careers. Dale is a member of the Casting Society of America and an honors graduate of Kalamazoo College and the BESGL Theater Program in London.  www.dalebrowncasting.com
