Cindy Xu
Cindy Xu is a New York-based theater (AEA) and film actor hailing from Vancouver, Canada. Like a true Adlerite, she enjoys performing contemporary new pieces such as “The Legend of the Chalk Circle” (American Theater of Actors) and “Fresh Mountain Air” (TheaterLab NY), as well as her Shakespeares: “As You Like It” (Theater 315), “Macbeth” (Stella Adler), and the experimental showcase of “Titus Andronicus” (La MaMa Galleria). She performs in both English and Mandarin.
As a theater creator, Cindy is the Co-Founder and Co-Producer of the arts collective, Lighthouse Ladies, and recently staged “A Night of Unstageable Works” in a Brooklyn theater space with a group of ten artists inspired by non-theatrical art works. A key focus in her work is uplifting minoritized voices in genre-bending scripts. Cindy is also the grant recipient for the Asian American Arts Alliance “What Can We Do” project, where she provided community care through a free polaroid booth in Chinatown. She is a graduate of NYU Tisch School of the Arts, and has worked professionally in Vancouver, New York, and Berlin, Germany.
