Chrysi Sylaidi
Chrysi Sylaidi was born in Athens, Greece. Her passion for the arts and performing began from a very young age when she started to participate in her school’s theater productions. It then blossomed at the age of 15 when she portrayed Hecuba in the eponymous tragedy by Euripides, earning the production 2nd place at the National Greek Theatre Competition Awards. Her passion for acting kept burning during her college years. While she was earning her BS in Economics from the Athens University of Economics and Business, she was performing in multiple award-winning productions in highly esteemed theaters in Athens and in Greek Regional festivals. Today, she is an actor and producer based in NYC. She is a graduate of the 3-year Conservatory at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, and a proud member of its Alumni Council (SASAC). Moreover, she is a resident artist at the Greek Cultural Center, a founder and co-Artistic Director of the award-winning multinational company, TeamTheatre, as well as a member of Dirty Laundry Theatre. She has starred in productions such as the Off-Off Broadway Golden Girl By The Sea (TeamTheatre) – for which she won a 2nd place Broadway World Award for Performer of the Decade -, the world premier of In Chorus (EGTNY in collaboration with the National Theatre of Greece), the critically acclaimed Spitting Image of the Departed (Greek Cultural Center), and Almost, Maine (TeamTheatre/Greek Cultural Center). NYC acting credits include: Maxx in Science Project (The Flea Theatre), Tiresias in Raving Reason (Laguardia Performing Arts Center- EGTNY), Hal in Shelter in Love (Eclipses Group Theatre NY), the Narrator in Time Zone Free (Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre), Madam C in The Dead Can Zoom (Theatre East), Marya Antonova in Government Inspector (Eclipses Group Theatre NY), Aggeliki in Goodnight Margaret (Cyprus New York Productions Inc.), Hermione in The Winter’s Tale, Pope Joan in Top Girls (Stella Adler NY). Greek credits include: Elizabeth Proctor – The Crucible (Akadimos Theatro), and Death – Οne Comedy (Theatro Poreia). Notable film credits include the award-winning web series Stephie With A Why (2020) and critically acclaimed film Through My Eyes (2020).
As a producer, Chrysi participated in the Off- Broadway production of The Night Alive in collaboration with Maiden Productions in 2022, the Global Forms Theatre Festival 2020 and 2021 (a multicultural festival with more than 100 immigrant artists participating) hosted by Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre, TeamTheatre’s Fun Fast Feb Festival – a festival of 12 original short-plays in 2020, and TeamTheatre’s Almost, Maine in 2019, among others.
