Brian Hastert

  • Acting for Film and Television

Brian Hastert is a New York City based actor, writer, and educator. As an educator, Brian is currently the Head of the BFA Acting for Film, Television, Voice Overs and Commercials program at Pace Performing Arts, and has also taught acting at NYU and Yale. Brian also writes a feisty politics blog at www.bridentitypolitics.com. He received his BFA at NYU and MFA from the Yale School of Drama, where he was the recipient of the Jerome L. Greene Foundation Fellowship and the Oliver Thorndike Award in Acting. Recent stage credits include Mission Drift (The National Theatre, London), The Ragged Claws (Cherry Lane), Passion Play (Yale Rep), Lines in Code (3 Legged Dog), The Laramie Project (Penobscot Theatre), as well short plays, readings, and workshops at MTC, New Dramatists, The Lark, EST, Dixon Place, Rattlestick, The Working Theatre, The Living Theatre, and others. TV: The Good Wife, and a number of national ad campaigns including the Playstation 4 launch campaign, “Perfect Day”. Radio: Twelve Years (BBC4). Brian is a founding member of The TEAM, an award-winning theatre company which creates new, company-devised plays about the experiences and myths of living in America today. With The TEAM Brian has performed all over New York, and toured nationally and internationally. He created roles in Mission Drift (EIF Prize, Fringe First Award Award, Herald Angel), Particularly in the Heartland (Fringe First, Dublin Fringe Best Production), A Thousand Natural Shocks; and helped develop the upcoming Scottish Enlightenment Project and Primer for a Failed Superpower, which began work recently at the National Theatre Studio in London.
