Angela Vitale

Ms. Vitale has acted in classical and contemporary plays regionally and off-Broadway, with such companies as the Harold Clurman Laboratory Theater, Manhattan Ensemble Theatre, Phoenix Theatre Ensemble, Nebraska Shakespeare Festival, Catskill Shakespeare Company, and the award-winning NOLA Project, playing leading roles in Mother Courage, The Seagull, Our Town, Twelfth Night, Othello, Hamlet, Much Ado About Nothing, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Cherry Orchard, The Cripple of Inishmaan, Cloud Nine, The Idiot, Major Barbara, Mary Stuart, and Happy Days. As resident Actor with the Jean Cocteau Repertory in NYC she appeared in over 40 productions, and also served as Vocal Coach. At the Stella Adler Studio she conceived and directed the annual Shakespeare Benefit in support of Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS for its first ten years, and has directed students in productions of Othello, King John, Measure for Measure, King Lear, As You Like It, Love’s Labor Lost, The Winter’s Tale, The Laramie Project, Great Expectations, Heartbreak House, A Delicate Balance, Balm in Gilead, The Good Woman of Setzuan, and the Stella Adler Studio’s September 11th Benefit. Angela has taught at the Stella Adler Studio since 1990, is a member of the leadership team for the Harold Clurman Playwrights Division, and is currently the director of the Stella Adler Studio’s NYU program. She trained at the National Shakespeare Conservatory.
