Filmmaker Paul Cohen captures Marc Krone as he brings passion, knowledge and technique from his teacher Stella Adler into the world of Dutch musical theatre and opera. An actor in musical theatre has to sing and act at the same time—a difficult task. It is something like playing football while trying to solve a mathematical equation. Dutch teacher and director Marc Krone is a master in this field. In Classroom 205, we see him help students reach for the depths of their souls and rise above their limitations. This quest for mastery sometimes leads to intense emotions when the performer is forced out of their comfort zones, but the results are often remarkable. Krone brings Adler’s work to a new generation and carries her legacy into the future.

MARC KRONE Is regisseur of Musical-theatre and has made Opera’s, Musicals and Operetta’s in Germany, Belgium, Ukraine, and Bulgaria. This was proceeded by an extensive acting career. He studied in New York with Stella Adler and appeared a myriad of parts for television, theatre and opera and was a long standing member of the (in)famous ‘Werkteater’ where he was, as both actor and director, responsible for the creation of more than thirty productions. From the mid 90’s on he focused on musical-theatre and starred in several big productions. He has taught drama and interpretation at the Fontys school of Arts in Tilburg and the Conservatory of Amsterdam. Two documentaries were made about his work: Aida goes Dutch en Classroom 205.
