This two-week summer program offers twenty hours a week of focused classes in actor preparation, admissions organization, and monologue performance. Students will strengthen their instruments, select material that reflects their unique artistry, and develop a clear, confident approach to college auditions. Classes will be held Monday-Friday from 11am-4pm ET.

Previous students have gone on to study at some of the nation’s most prestigious theatre training programs, including the NYU Tisch School of the Arts (with which the Studio is proudly affiliated with), Juilliard, Carnegie Mellon, Northwestern, and many others. Students in the College Audition Intensive will also have the opportunity to work with faculty from the Studio’s NYU Tisch BFA program, offering valuable insight into conservatory-level training and the college audition process.

Classes Include:

This course prepares the actor’s instrument for the demands of audition and performance work. As athletes of the body, mind, and heart, actors must develop consistent practices that awaken the breath, body, voice, and articulation before stepping into the room. Emphasis is placed on building focus, confidence, and presence while managing the pressures and nerves that often accompany auditions. Through a series of warm-up and centering exercises, students will cultivate techniques that help them feel grounded, prepared, and fully connected to their work, allowing them to bring their strongest and most authentic selves into the audition process.

This course guides students through the organizational aspects of the college audition and application process. Students will develop and organize college lists, application timelines, audition requirements, and important deadlines while receiving support in creating and refining professional resumes and application materials. The class also provides space for questions and discussion surrounding the overall application process, helping students approach college auditions with greater clarity, preparation, and confidence.

In this course, students work closely with faculty and coaches to identify monologues that best showcase their individuality, strengths, and artistic range. Through guided exploration and performance work, students develop a deeper understanding of material selection, storytelling, and audition technique while refining their chosen pieces. By the conclusion of the intensive, students will have prepared at least two polished monologues as well as practical tools for continuing to discover and develop future material. The course culminates in a mock audition experience, providing students with the opportunity to apply their skills in performance and receive constructive feedback in a supportive environment.
