Imagination in Action Intensive: Teaching Stella Adler’s Technique

For teachers and aspiring teachers looking to bring Stella Adler’s unique approach and exercises to their classroom.

This six-week intensive, available fully online or as a hybrid program in New York is ideal for actors, educators and acting teachers who are seeking to learn and incorporate the acting techniques developed by Stella Adler into their curriculum. Working with the studio’s renowned faculty, participants will explore the three pillars of Stella Adler’s work: Foundation, Script Interpretation and Character. Participants will receive the language and principles of the technique including imagination, action, circumstance and justification.

At the end of the course, participants will have the tools to deliver Stella Adler’s belief that the playwright’s text provides the actor with a complete road map to analyze and understand the social circumstances and the epic ideas inside the play. Participants will also learn to guide actors to make courageous, expansive onstage choices using their limitless imaginations as their primary resource. The mission of the studio, based on the Adlerian insight that growth as an actor and growth as a human being are synonymous, will encourage participants to always be working on their own artistry, education and sense of self-expansion.
