Adler 8 – “THE ACTOR WARRIOR: Resilient, Expressive, Empowered”

In the fourth year, known as the Company, students devote almost all of their studio time to rehearsal and performance, with a minimal amount of classes in support of production. The Company is a bridge between training and the professional experiences students may immediately encounter upon graduation.

The Spring term of Adler Company is built around the idea of the actor as self-reliant creator. The goal is to encourage fearlessness in young actors, giving them the tools, experience and the agency to create their own work and to shape their own career through solo work and as a teaching artist.

The curriculum consists of creating and performing a live solo stage piece, with mentors and consultants to help guide the process, as well as experience in taking the work to the classroom as a teaching artist in collaboration with our Arts Justice Field Programs. The course concludes with the students submitting their developed solo work out into the professional world.

Sunday rehearsal and/or performances throughout the term. Students must be available on Monday evenings and for full Sunday rehearsals or performances throughout the term.

The Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York and our sister studio, the Art of Acting Studio in Los Angeles, created a video showcasing the unique culture and community of these two venerable institutions. Made in 2024, the video provides an “inside look” into the history, mission, curriculum and cultural programming of the studio. Over 200 students, faculty and staff representing all programs participated in the making of this video series.
