Adler 7 – 4th Year Company Shakespeare Tour

In the fourth year, known as the Company, students devote almost all of their studio time to rehearsal and performance, with a minimal amount of class time in support of production. The Company is a bridge between training and the professional experiences students may immediately encounter upon graduation.

Students collaborate on and rehearse a 1-hour cut of a Shakespeare play. The production is previewed at the Studio before touring as part of our Arts Justice Program for the second half of the term to middle-schools, high-schools, prison facilities, veteran organizations, senior citizen communities as well as other under-served communities. Students explore the challenges of an extended run and a variety of performance venues, as well as a diverse audience response to the work. Tours are scheduled only during Studio hours and on Sundays.

Classes consist of a Voice & Speech / Movement class to support the production, and a Business of Acting class. Sunday rehearsal and/or performances throughout the term. STUDENTS MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR FULL DAY SUNDAY REHEARSALS AND TOURS FOR THE WHOLE TERM.

The Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York and our sister studio, the Art of Acting Studio in Los Angeles, created a video showcasing the unique culture and community of these two venerable institutions. Made in 2024, the video provides an “inside look” into the history, mission, curriculum and cultural programming of the studio. Over 200 students, faculty and staff representing all programs participated in the making of this video series.
